INDUSTRIAL DESIGN STUDENT
My name is Pelle Dekker, I am a 19-year-old Industrial Design student. From a young age I’ve always been interested in technology and creating. Today, my passion for creation and design continues, however with a slight shift in focus. I've developed a keen interest in product and furniture design, with a strong desire to further develop my skills in working with different materials and machines. During Q1, Q2, and Q3 I made the first steps toward my goal of becoming a professional Industrial Designer. The given courses helped me gain knowledge and skills, but I believe I learned the most by doing.
The hands-on deliverables and my personal learning goals steered me to develop my problem-solving mindset, sketching, CAD-modeling, computer rendering and prototyping. CBL-project 1 and a personal design project helped me get a clear understanding of possible design processes.

"I DEVELOP PRODUCTS, FROM AN IDEA TO A FINISHED PRODUCT."
I am eager to learn, particularly when interested in a subject.
My creativity drives me to constantly seek alternatives and perfection in my work. I am dedicated to develop my own design style and constantly generating innovative ideas.
In group settings, I strive to be a valuable team player. This involves being an active listener, being open-minded and receptive to the ideas and perspectives of others, taking responsibility for my tasks and help individual team members when needed.
"WHAT DRIVES ME TO BECOME A PROFESSIONAL DESIGNER IS THE PASSION I HAVE FOR CREATING."
Design is everywhere, I like my designs to be simple because I believe the world is already full of distractions. In the future I want to own a design studio, where I develop products and work on other design projects together with a team of other passionate designers and engineers. These projects will be in-house or on behalf of clients. I strive to be a professional Industrial Designer that balances creativity with technical expertise, ensuring that my designs are not only visually pleasant but also functional, feasible, and marketable.
To achieve this vision, I will keep developing my skills within the Expertise Areas and Design and Research methods. For me it is also important to gain hands-on experience, I believe experience is mainly what shapes a professional Industrial Designer. That’s why apart from the projects linked to deliverables I will continue to devote time to personal design projects.
A designer that really inspires me is Dieter Rams, because of his perspective on design.
